Fidel Castro’s Grandson Ripped The Runway At Chanel Fashion Show?
Chanel staged the first international fashion show in Havana, Cuba since the 1959 communist revolution on Tuesday (May 3). The last thing anyone would expect is for the grandson of Communist leader Fidel Castro to rip the runway for Chanel’s Resort 2017 collection, but that’s exactly what one Spanish news outlet is saying.
No concrete reports have yet confirmed that Tony Castro, 19, made his catwalk debut, despite being spotted at various fashion hotspots around the world. One Migue Leyva suggests he and his fellow model colleague (pictured above) were shot for #ChanelCuba.
According to Vogue, the unprecedented Chanel spectacle was held outside in the open at Havana’s Paseo de Prado, which is the dividing line between old and new Havana. The event took place just one day after the first U.S. ship in nearly 40 years docked in the country, and was filled with “the cultural richness and opening up of Cuba,” stated a press release.
Further details are still pending, yet there’s much to unpack in regards to the Castro name possibly reaching new heights, away from its dictator legacy.
