This is the latest effort by the music industry to respond to the wildfire disaster. The Recording Academy canceled most of their planned Grammy Week festivities, and reimagined the remaining events, including the Feb. 2 Grammy ceremony, to contribute to relief efforts. The Academy and MusiCares also launched MusiCares Fire Relief to support affected music professionals. And they formed partnerships with Direct Relief, the California Community Foundation, and the Pasadena Community Foundation for additional aid efforts. Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. said in a statement, “In addition to raising money for music people, we are proud to add these three incredible partners who are supporting the Los Angeles region in other ways to maximize our efforts of aiding those impacted by this crisis.”

Among the individual music stars who have donated to aid wildfire victims are Beyoncé, who pledged $2.5 million through her BeyGood Foundation. “The fund is earmarked to aid families in the Altadena/Pasadena area who lost their homes, and to churches and community centers to address the immediate needs of those affected by the wildfires,” said the foundation on Instagram. Metallica‘s All Within My Hands foundation donated $500,000. “The fires in California have devastated so many families, and it’s been heartbreaking to see these stories unfold,” said Taylor Swift on Instagram Stories upon donating to multiple charitable organizations.
