Firefly 2015: Tove Lo Doesn’t Flash Anyone, Bastille Covers TLC & 20 Awesome Moments from Sunday
The 2015 Firefly Music Festival came to a close on Sunday (June 21) with, thankfully, no lightning storms or full-scale evacuations. Although the messy weather on Saturday led to a lack of Kings of Leon or Kid Cudi at Firefly, the Killers and Steve Aoki saluted those two artists on Sunday, as part of a jam-packed day of memorable sights and sounds. 12:31 PM: The Pavilion Stage is one of the reopened festival’s muddiest areas, and had to be drained of rainwater with a truck before the crowds return and Filibusta kicks off the stage’s first show of the day.
2:31 PM: The Red Bull truck at the entrance to the festival blasts Chumbawumba’s “Tubthumping.” Crowds at Firefly are pretty young, yet everyone is pumping their fists to the ’90s jam.
2:35 PM: “I love this festival but I just can’t wait to get home to A/C,” says one patron. Dude, same.
3:27 PM: Steve Aoki, who rescheduled his scrapped Saturday night set for Sunday afternoon, nods to Kid Cudi (who performed for 20 minutes on Saturday but couldn’t continue) by playing a remix of “The Pursuit of Happiness” to end his performance.

3:49 PM: Festival newcomer Verité gives “so much love” to the dedicated crowd at her afternoon set on the Porch Stage, getting emotional as she closes out her set.
4:23 PM: The intimate ‘Treehouse Stage’ is at max capacity, but a few dedicated fans are watching Citizen Cope play a special acoustic set through the woods behind a metal fence.
4:50 PM: “Dave is our resident dancer — don’t let me down, Dave,” Benjamin Booker tells a colorfully dressed bro whom he brings onstage to gyrate to “Violent Shiver.” Dave is not the most skilled dancer — he just sort of bops up and down – but he gets a warm reaction from the audience for his efforts.
5:22 PM: Phox sing “Happy Birthday” to their keyboard player mid-set. Approximately five hours later, the Killers do the same to frontman Brandon Flowers. No birthday cake, though — probably because Steve Aoki used up Delaware’s entire supply during his early afternoon set.
6:16 PM: New Zealand duo Broods performs “Coattails,” a standout track from their 2014 self-titled EP that didn’t make it onto their debut album.
6:33 PM: Parents hoist children atop their shoulders as Hozier launches into “Work Song.” Fun for the whole family!

6:55 PM: “One true king! One true king!” So go the chants from “Game of Thrones” geeks when a giant yellow flag sporting the BARATHEON emblem makes its way through the crowd near the food vendors.
7:24 PM: Bastille runs through its cover of TLC’s “No Scrubs,” turning the slick R&B tune into a more somber rendition. Unfortunately, no Left Eye verse!
7:52 PM: Citizen Cope, who contributed to the 2006 Radiohead reggae/dub covers album Radiodread, dusted off an affecting version of the classic “Karma Police.”
8:12 PM: Snoop Dogg brings out Daz Dillinger to lead the audience to wave back and forth. Tha Doggfather pauses to grab an enormous blunt from a generous audience member. “You might not get this back,” he said. “You rolled the shit out of this.”
8:31 PM: A man climbs a speaker tower during Snoop Dogg’s set and starts waving his arms and gyrating his hips. Security looks on in dismay, then swarms the base of the speaker rig to await his inevitable descent.
8:48 PM: Empire of the Sun plays “Walking on a Dream” as the sun sets on the Firefly grounds. A dream, indeed.
8:53 PM: Now face-first on the ground in handcuffs, the Firefly climber awaits a police vehicle that will escort him off the premises.
9:01 PM: Tove Lo fans begin angrily tweeting that the pop star didn’t flash her breasts during her performance, which she had done for a split-second during “Talking Body” at a few festivals earlier this summer. “I want my money back,” writes one insane person.
9:38 PM: The Killers show up 23 minutes late to their headlining set, but are ready to roll. “Hello,” is all Brandon Flowers has to say before the instantly recognizable melody of “Mr. Brightside” kicks in.
10:27 PM: Kings of Leon, you are not forgotten: one day after the band’s scheduled headlining performance is rained out, Brandon Flowers of the Killers plays his second KoL cover of the night, an acoustic version of “Use Somebody.”
