First Lady Michelle Obama Honors Military on ‘The Voice’

The Voice opened with a special message from first lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden as the nation celebrates Military Appreciation Month. And to commemorate our troops, the live studio audience was made up of active-duty military personnel and veterans and their families. Mrs. Obama said, “Over the past five years through Joining Forces, Jill and I have had the pleasure of traveling across this country and all over the world, meeting troops and veterans and our military families, and we are just in awe of them. In awe of their courage and patriotism.”

The lovely Dr. Biden added, “We wanted to show them how much we appreciate their services with real concrete action through employment, education, and wellness initiatives. Joining Forces gives all Americans the opportunity to show their support for those who serve and sacrifice for our country.”

To honor the brave men and women in uniform, the top 10 singers kicked off the night with an amazing rendition of Dierks Bentley’s “Home.”

The Voice airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on NBC.
