Former Miramax, Weinstein Employees Raise Money Against Sexual Violence
Former and current employees of Miramax and The Weinstein Company have launched a fundraising campaign to support victims of sexual violence and harassment.
In conjunction with RAINN (the Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network), they aim to raise $100,000 for victims.
“In light of the news of Harvey Weinstein’s treatment of women, we the former & current employees of Miramax Films, Dimension Films and The Weinstein Company have decided to pursue some level of silver lining,” the page says. “Current figures suggest that 1 in 6 women and 1 in 33 men will become a victim of sexual assault in his or her lifetime. We think about the men, women, and our colleagues that we care about — and we are driven to take action, to affect change.

“Ending sexual violence is a cause worth fighting for, and RAINN is an organization worth believing in. RAINN has helped more than 2.5 million survivors through the National Sexual Assault Hotline (800.656.HOPE and online.rainn.org) and they work every day to shine light on the issue, and to ensure justice for survivors.”

The Weinstein Company is under pressure since many women accused Weinstein of sexual harasssment and misconduct. He was fired from his namesake company on Sunday.
