Born in Glasgow, Scotland, Ferguson began his entertainment career in his teens as a drummer for several punk bands. He credits a bandmate with encouraging him to try stand-up.
After a successful set at the Edinburg Festival Fringe, Ferguson landed many TV roles and starred in his own BBC television show before coming to the U.S.
