Former Pacha NYC Owner Wins Verboten Property With $1.2 Million Bid
Eddie Dean, former owner of Pacha NYC, is now the proprietor of the party space formerly known as Verboten.
The two-room, 10,000-square-foot Brooklyn club — billed as a “home for underground music and events” — was shut down by the New York state government in March, citing “nonpayment of taxes.”

The property at 54 N. 11th St. went up for grabs, and Dean scooped it up for a cool $1.2 million. The NYC nightlife veteran plans to reopen the venue this fall under a new name.
“I started my nightlife career in Brooklyn, so it’s only fitting that I return here now,” Dean says in a press release. “We are excited to take over the North 11th space in this prime location and fully put our nightlife expertise into action.”
The plan is to create an event space “dedicated to the creative ethos of Brooklyn and [to] serve as an outpost for the global dance music scene.” Dean will direct operations with the assistance of Pacha NYC partner Andrew Inomata. The new space expects to host live concerts and DJ sets from a variety of international and up-and-coming acts.
