Four acts announced for 'Thursdays at the Felt' in July
LAKETOWN TWP. — Four acts will perform at Laketown Township’s Felt Mansion as part of an annual summer concert series this July.
"Thursdays at the Felt" takes place every week in July, according to a news release. The free concerts are organized by the Friends of the Felt Estate.
This year’s lineup includes:
July 6 — Kevin McDaniel House Band (oldies, rock, country)
July 13 — Brena (oldies to current hits, classic rock, country to dance music)
July 20 — Great Scott (songs from the 1950s to today)
July 27 — Bucket o’ Maybes (variety of rock styles including classic favorites)
Concerts take place at 7 p.m. — rain or shine — on the Carriage House stage at 6595 138th Ave.
Food service begins at 6 p.m. Food vendors are Pizza Parliament and Airborne Burritos. No outside drinks are allowed, and coolers will be checked. No dogs or pets are allowed except for service animals.

This year’s announcement was accompanied by a special poster design depicting the prism cover of Pink Floyd’s iconic 1973 album “The Dark Side of The Moon.” The poster was designed by local artist Antoinette “Toni” Houtman.
“It’s such an iconic image, and the twist incorporating the crystals from the Felt Mansion lights ties it specifically to the place,” Houtman said. “You can see the actual vintage light fixtures there.”
In the poster design, the light enters a sconce and separates into the basic colors, each representing a performance dance.
“Our (sconces) have prisms hanging from them — something that was all the rage at the end of the 1800s,” said Felt Operations Director Patty Meyer.
“One day, I looked at those prisms and thought there was once an album cover with a prism on it, and the inspiration went from there."

Meyer is retiring in October after more than 20 years leading the restoration of Felt Mansion, which is used for community events and weddings. She hopes her last concert series is a month of “celebration, love, healing and joy."
“We all need those things,” Meyer said. “So, when the music pours into the prism of our own minds and hearts, how will it be refracted and dispersed? What will be the spectrum of our experience? All of that is fascinating and important to me.”
