The Disney-Fox deal has left many wondering what the fate will be of the latter network’s most beloved properties. Disney officially takes over the 21st Century Fox movie and TV divisions, while the Fox Corporation, a.k.a. “New Fox,” remains owned by Rupert Murdoch and will continue its broadcasting, news, and sports aims.
In short, Fox Broadcasting Co., along with Fox News and the Fox owned and operated stations, will be spun off into the new Fox, which this trailer celebrates. Disney’s acquisitions include 21st Century Fox’s film production businesses, including 20th Century Fox, Fox Searchlight Pictures, Fox 2000 Pictures, Fox Family, and Fox Animation; Fox’s television creative units, Twentieth Century Fox Television, FX Productions, and Fox21; FX Networks; National Geographic Partners; Fox Networks Group International; Star India; and Fox’s interests in Hulu, Tata Sky, and Endemol Shine Group.
When it comes to populating content on the Fox network, there will no doubt be interplay between the new Fox and the Disney-owned assets. And Fox has reassured viewers that its shows aren’t suddenly going to end up on the Disney-owned network ABC.
