Sean Combs’ Cable Channel Revolt Goes Live Oct. 21
Sean Combs’ cable channel Revolt will go live Oct. 21 on Time Warner cable systems in New York and Los Angeles prior to a national launch in January. Revolt will be made available to customers with subscription to the Variety Tier and will require two-way capable digital cable ready equipment. Revolt is designed to have programming inspired by music and pop culture, including music videos, live performances, music news and interviews. It will also incorporate social media interaction for music artists and fans.
‘Into the Woods’ Starts Filming In England, Slated for Dec. 2014 Release
Filming of the James Lapine-Stephen Sondheim musical “Into the Woods” began last week in England under the direction of Rob Marshall (“Chicago,” “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”). The film is slated for a Dec. 25, 2014, release. The cast includes Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt, Johnny Depp and Anna Kendrick. “Into the Woods” premiered on Broadway on Nov. 5, 1987, and won Tony Awards for best score, best book and best actress in a musical.
Tony winners Added to NBC’s ‘Sound of Music’
Stage stars Audra McDonald, Laura Benanti and Christian Borle have been added to the cast for the live Dec. 5 production of NBC’s “The Sound of Music.” McDonald, who has won five Tonys and two Grammy Awards, will portray Mother Abbess; Benanti, who won a Tony for “Gypsy,” will play Elsa Schrader; and Borle, the former cast member on “Smash” and a Tony winner for “Peter and the Starcatcher” will portray Max Dettweiler. Carrie Underwood stars as Maria in the three-hour show based on the original 1959 Broadway production.
Mark Orton’s ‘Nebraska’ Score Coming Out on Milan Records
Mark Orton’s score to Alexander Payne’s “Nebraska” will be released Nov. 19 on Milan Records. Orton, who began scoring about 13 years ago, is the guitarist and arranger in Tin Hat.

Lionsgate, Concord Releasing 12-song ‘Mad Men Christmas’
Lionsgate and Concord Records will release “Mad Men Christmas: Music from and Inspired by the Hit TV Series on AMC” on Oct. 15, exclusively at Target stores. The 12-song collection will include the previously unreleased remix of “Zou Bisou Bisou” as performed by character Megan Draper (played by Jessica Paré) in the season five premiere and the show’s theme, “A Beautiful Mine” by RJD2.
Woody Allen to Be Honored at Golden Globes
Woody Allen will be honored with the 2014 Cecil B. DeMille Award at the 71st annual Golden Globe Awards on Jan. 12 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
