'Game of Thrones' called out for leaving a Starbucks coffee cup in a scene: 'Unprofessional'
Daenerys Targaryen had a lousy week on Game of Thrones, but she wasn’t the only one.
Eagle-eyed viewers of Sunday’s episode noticed a Starbucks cup on a table by Emilia Clarke’s character as she shared a scene with Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and the Winterfell crew.

It prompted a huge reaction on Twitter, leading the show to acknowledge the error — with humor — by Monday afternoon. “Daenerys had ordered an herbal tea,” they joked.

Bernie Caulfield, an executive producer on the show, also addressed the error in an interview with WNYC radio on Monday. In addition to an “I’m sorry,” she joked that “Westeros was the first place to actually, you know, have Starbucks.” She also quipped, “If that’s the worst thing they’re finding, then we’re in good shape.”
But here’s how it played out: Twitter sleuths were quickly on the case to verify that the “Starbucks cup gaffe was real.”

Some fans were really upset about the mix-up, calling it “unprofessional” and accusing the production team of having “senioritis” in the HBO show’s last season.
The fact that anybody is able to bring a Starbucks cup onto a hot set makes me feel like they've got senioritis over in Westeros.

But the majority of the posts were jokey in nature. From now until forever, folks will think of her as “Daenerys Stormborn of House Targaryen ... the Mother of Dragons ... and Drinker of Pumpkin Spice.”
Fun fact: George R R Martin got all his character names from the ones baristas write on Starbucks cups. pic.twitter.com/cX7NoZg3pi

Someone left Starbucks on the set of Game of Thrones.
Now everyone in the Seven Kingdoms thinks Daenerys is sipping PSLs, her real name is Becky, and she shops at Target three times a week in yoga pants.#GOT #Daenerys pic.twitter.com/vbW9theuuj— Travis Akers (@travisakers) May 6, 2019
Winterfell really got the first Starbucks in history. Crazy. pic.twitter.com/abslRqwZKr

I knew Starbucks had reach, but who knew the North would be the first to get one in Westeros. https://t.co/LIcEz3qGZV

Making it all even funnier, Starbucks actually has something called the Dragon Drink. Perhaps it’s Clarke’s next endorsement deal?
Starbucks really trying to push their "Dragon Drink" by getting in on that GoT momentum https://t.co/46DL4wrc4j

Of course, Starbucks joined in on the action too.
TBH we're surprised she didn't order a Dragon Drink.

As we detailed in our recap, it was another rough week for Daenerys — separate of the Starbucks gaffe. After saying goodbye to Ser Jorah Mormont last week, she continued to deal with rough losses in “The Last of the Starks.”
