Game of Thrones Fans Are Freaking Out About Sunday's Shocker
Game of Thrones is only two episodes into season 6 – but the show has already dropped quite the bombshell.
Warning: This story contains spoilers for Sunday's episode of Game of Thrones, "Home."
At the end of Sunday's episode, Jon Snow ( Kit Harington) opens his eyes with help from Melisandre ( Carice Van Houten), who (apparently) has brought him back to life. Jon's death in the season 5 finale has been among the most debated plotlines in the show's history – with many fans doubting he would was really dead (or that he would stay that way).
The series is known for its shocking deaths, but to date only one character, Beric Dondarrion (Richard Dormer), has been known to be able to return from the dead. Jon's apparent return from the dead is a major turning point for the show, which this season is venturing beyond what book author George R.R. Martin has published. In the most recent book, 2011's A Dance with Dragons it was left up for interpretation if Jon was dead or alive after a mutiny by the Night's Watch.
On Twitter, fans have been swift to react to Jon opening his eyes, with many fans expressing shock at how good Jon looks (even as a recently dead man) and others saying they suspected all along that he would return.
