‘Game of Thrones': Key Characters May Sit Out Next Season

HBO’s “Game of Thrones” will be missing a few main characters next season, according to one of the show’s actors.
Kristian Nairn, who plays the giant Hodor on the series, told the Australian Broadcasting Channel that he and Isaac Hempstead-Wright, who plays the young Bran Stark, won’t appear in the fifth season.
“We have a season off. We have a year’s hiatus,” he said.
Nairn said the decision is likely due to Hodor and Bran Stark’s storyline in the books.
HBO declined to comment.
It’s an interesting development, if true, considering the two characters appeared together in a pivotal scene at the end of season 4. No other main characters have sat out an entire season through four editions of the popular drama.
Nairn, 38, is currently on tour DJ-ing across Australia for his “Rave of Thrones” tour while Hempstead-Wright voices one of the character’s in the fall animated pic “The Boxtrolls.”
HBO’s fifth season of “Game of Thrones” is currently filming and will premiere sometime early next year.
