Garbage has announced the cancellation of all their remaining tour dates for the year due to an injury sustained by lead singer Shirley Manson. The news was shared on Thursday through an Instagram post by a representative for the band.

“It is with great regret that we announce the cancellation of all our remaining dates for the rest of the year due to an injury that Shirley sustained on our recent tour in Europe that will require surgery and rehabilitation to correct,” the statement read. “This is not a decision that we have taken lightly, and we apologize to our amazing fans and supportive promoters. We look forward to playing for you all again in 2025.”

Shirley Manson also shared her feelings about the cancellation, expressing her disappointment. “No one is more crushed about this than I am. You know I would push through if I could,” she commented. However, the Scottish singer did not disclose the specifics of her injury or how it occurred.

Fans and fellow artists responded with well wishes. Musician Kathleen Hanna wrote, “Love you, Shirley! I’m so sorry about your injury. I really hope the surgery goes well and people sneak you in some decent food!” Actress Rosanna Arquette added, “Ahh s**t. Heal well beautiful Shirley and a great record will come from this time.”

Garbage, which also includes Duke Erikson, Steve Marker, and Butch Vig, was scheduled to perform at several festivals, including the Ohana Festival in Dana Point, California, in September. The band is now planning to return to the stage in 2025 after Shirley has fully recovered.
