General Hospital’s Kelly Monaco Cheered On By Her Castmates: ‘She Will Succeed’
It isn’t just General Hospital fans that have been shaken by the news that Kelly Monaco is leaving the soap — and reportedly not by choice. Her co-stars have also been rocked by her imminent exit as Sam (who is said to be getting killed off). But they are determined to look on the bright side, even if they have to squint to see it.
Maurice Benard, whose Sonny was one of Sam’s first General Hospital love interests, tweeted that “every time someone leaves a show, I always believe something great is going to come. It’s a blessing in disguise.

“Kelly is really talented,” he added, “and she will succeed.”
Laura Wright (Carly) seconded that emotion. “I’m with ya, Mo,” she replied. “I see an incredible opportunity! I can’t wait to see Kelly shine.”
Post-General Hospital, Monaco should have options galore. But we’re particularly partial to the roles that would reunite her with one of her former leading men (Jason Thompson, who’s now at The Young and the Restless) or another (Greg Vaughan, who could use a new Days of Our Lives love interest).
The actress also received support after Instagramming a lovely tribute to the late Billy Miller (Jason/Drew) on the anniversary of his tragic passing. Michael Easton (ex-McBain/Silas/Finn) reminded his frequent castmate that “you have a lot of people who love you, Kelly, and we all have your back.”

While Kimberly McCullough (ex-Robin) messaged that “my heart goes out to you, Kelly,” Rebecca Budig (ex-Hayden, now Taylor on Bold & Beautiful) sent a series of black heart emojis.
