On Friday’s episode, he speaks with Savannah who was repeatedly sexually abused as a very young child until she was adopted by Andrea and her husband at age 6. The young woman says she partially blames Andrea for what she went through, and that they currently don’t see eye-to-eye on many things.
In the video above, Dr. Phil shows Savannah examples from her childhood where she and her parents created happy memories that helped her to overwrite the abuse she suffered before her adoption — and how she can now create a new legacy with her young son.

“As you look back through here, there are a lot of positive, loving, nurturing experiences that you have to build on,” Dr. Phil says. “There were a lot of traditions, there were a lot of things that your mom and your dad created for you that you remember.”
