Emily Gilmore has spoken.
Kelly Bishop, who played the snarky matriarch on Gilmore Girls, has revealed which of Rory’s boyfriends was her favorite on the WB/CW dramedy. “I have to admit I’m Team Logan, although I really love the other two,” Bishop says in a new interview posted on Instagram to coincide with the upcoming release of her new memoir The Third Gilmore Girl, in bookstores on Tuesday, Sept. 17.

Bishop preferred the dashing Yale undergrad played by Matt Czuchry, she recalls, because “there is something about his acting that I particularly liked in working with him… He had a very manly quality, where the other guys were like boys. Great boys! But Logan was like an old movie star, like a man.”
Gilmore Girls fans will remember that Emily’s granddaughter Rory, played by Alexis Bledel, had three main suitors for her heart: her first love Dean, played by Jared Padalecki; bad boy Jess, played by Milo Ventimiglia; and then Czuchry’s Logan, when she went to Yale. Logan actually proposed to Rory at the end of the series, but she turned him down to take a job as a roving reporter. She reunited with him, though, in the Netflix revival Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life, with the two carrying on an affair while they were both in other relationships. Rory later revealed that she is pregnant, but the identity of the baby’s father was never confirmed.
