‘Good Omens’ Season 3 to Consist of One 90-Minute Episode, Neil Gaiman Not Involved in Production
“Good Omens” Season 3 will be just one episode and will move forward without Neil Gaiman, Variety has learned.
It was previously announced that Season 3 of the Amazon Prime Video series, which is based on the book of the same name by Terry Pratchett and Gaiman, would be the show’s last. However, production was paused on the third season in September after Gaiman was accused of sexual assault by multiple women.

Now, Prime Video has confirmed that Season 3 will consist of one 90-minute episode, with production expected to resume in early 2025 in Scotland. According to an individual with knowledge of the situation, Gaiman had contributed to the writing of the series finale, but he will not be working on the show once production resumes. He is also no longer listed among the show’s executive producers for the final episode.
“Good Omens” first debuted on Prime Video in 2019, with Gaiman originally credited as creator, executive producer, and showrunner. It stars Michael Sheen and David Tennant as the angel Aziraphale and demon Crowley, respectively. The show was originally set to be a limited series, but its popularity led Amazon to renew it for a second season based on an idea that Gaiman said he discussed with Pratchett before Pratchett’s death in 2015.
Rob Wilkins of Narrativia, representing Pratchett’s estate, as well as BBC Studios Productions’ head of comedy Josh Cole will executive produce Season 3. Amazon MGM Studios, BBC Studios Productions, and Narrativia produce.
This is the latest in the fallout since the accusations against Gaiman became public. It was also previously reported that Disney has paused development on the film adaptation of Gaiman’s novel “The Graveyard Book.” Amazon is currently prepping a series adaptation of Gaiman’s book “Anansi Boys,” which completed filming in May 2022. The series does not have a premiere date at the time of this publishing, but will likely launch sometime in 2025.
Likewise, Season 2 of the Netflix series “The Sandman,” based on the DC Comics series by Gaiman, is currently in the works. A first-look was recently released as part of Netflix’s Geeked Week, with the second season also expected to debut in 2025.
