‘Gossip Girl’ Struts Onto Nielsen Charts Following Return To Netflix; ‘Outer Banks’ Sails Back To No. 1
In the latest example of the dominance of library titles on streaming, Gossip Girl soared onto Nielsen’s streaming Top 10 the first week of November after making its return to Netflix.
The YA favorite racked up 617M viewing minutes across Netflix, Max and Hulu from November 4 to 10, putting it at No. 10 overall. While the show never left Max or Hulu, it’s absence from the Nielsen streaming lists when it wasn’t on Netflix is pretty telling.

It will be interesting to see whether the title will continue to rise through the ranks and generate more viewership in the coming weeks, as we’ve seen many times over when beloved titles make their way to the streamer. Gossip Girl seems to be a pretty constant favorite, so it’s possible it will never pop the way that Suits or Lost did while still putting up continuously strong viewership.
According to Nielsen, about 10% of Gossip Girl viewers were aged 12-17 this time around while 37% were in the 18-34 range.
Gossip Girl joined the ranks of library titles like Bob’s Burgers, Family Guy, Grey’s Anatomy, Lost and Bluey, which all continue to relentlessly put up strong viewership week after week, becoming stalwarts on this list.
This week, the top three was dominated by Netflix’s original titles, though. Outer Banks came in No. 1 with 1.2B minutes viewed following the release of Season 4B. The Diplomat also saw 1.2B minutes in the week after Season 2 hit the platform. Rounding it out at No. 3 was The Lincoln Lawyer with 1.1B minutes viewed.
