'Great American Baking Show' contestant returns after death of father for second chance
Antoinette Love came back for Season 3 of The Great American Baking Show after her time on Season 2 was cut short by the loss of her father. She returned with a smile and an ingredient that surprised English judge Paul Hollywood. “I’ve never had a doughnut with a bit of bacon in it, as well,” he said to Antoinette. “What?! Oh, you’re gonna love me after this,” she said.
Antoinette commented, “I’m from North Carolina. I’m trying to take them back home with me. You know, this is how we do it. We want some meat with our meal.”
Throughout the competition, Antoinette impressed the judges with a Deconstructed Hummingbird Cake, and while her Cranberry Bourbon Swiss Roll wowed them on color, it didn’t do quite as well on texture. “I think if I dropped it on the floor, it might bounce back up again,” Hollywood said. But overall, Antoinette did well, and we were happy to see her get a second chance to show off her talents.
The Great American Baking Show airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. on ABC.
