Lee will play Gloria, a mercurial theater actress whose magnetic personality and unpredictable allure upend the life of Dafoe’s Ed Saxberger, a former poet rediscovered by a group of young artists. The film explores the “illusory effect of praise on the soul, and the lingering ghostly presence of the past, whether it’s imagined or vividly remembered,” reads the synopsis.
Produced by Pamela Koffler and Christine Vachon of Killer Films, “Late Fame” had a buzzy launch at this year’s Cannes Film Market.
Jones made his feature film debut with the award-winning “Diane,” starring Mary Kay Place and Jake Lacy. His previous work includes the documentary “Hitchcock/Truffaut,” which premiered at Cannes in 2015 and the Peabody Award-winning “A Letter to Elia,” co-directed with Martin Scorsese, with whom he has collaborated frequently over the years. He is currently working with Scorsese on the series “Saints,” and on an upcoming adaptation of Shusaku Endo’s “A Life of Jesus.”
Jones is represented by UTA, while Lee is represented by UTA, Entertainment 360, Jackoway Austen Tyerman and Relevant PR. Dafoe is represented by WME and Circle of Confusion.
