“Grey's Anatomy ”star Eric Dane recalls daughter dissing him over his lack of abs: 'Dad, where did your abs go?'

"I have a climber but I’m not using it as much as I should. I am going to get back on that thing."

Eric Dane’s kids are making sure their famous dad stays grounded.

The Euphoria actor revealed in a recent Variety interview that one of his daughters had a very important question to ask him after watching him play Dr. Mark Sloan, a.k.a McSteamy, on Grey’s Anatomy.  

“My 12-year-old, when she started watching it a couple of years ago, looked at me and said, ‘Dad, where did your abs go?’” Dane recalled. “She was serious. She wasn’t making a joke.”

Dane maintained that his six pack could very well make a return if he “put some more effort in,” adding, “I have a climber but I’m not using it as much as I should. I am going to get back on that thing.”

The 51-year-old previously revealed on a June episode of Live With Kelly and Mark that his two daughters — Billie Beatrice Dane and Georgia Geraldine Dane — with now-estranged wife Rebecca Gayheart are Grey's Anatomy super fans who have seen “every episode” thus far.

That doesn’t mean that he's all caught up on the show, though. “I was kinda there when it happened, so my attitude was like I don’t want to see it, because then you start looking at things you shouldn’t be looking at,” Dane explained at the time, “and the experience for me was in the act of.”

Dane starred as McSteamy on the medical drama from 2006 until 2012. He later returned as a special guest star in a 2021 episode that saw his character appear in a dream sequence with Ellen Pompeo’s Meredith in season 17.

Speaking with Variety, Dane added, “I don’t watch Grey’s Anatomy [now] and I didn’t watch much when I was on but I sure did have a fun time making it. The actors had such a great relationship. I remember showing up to set and being like, ‘I love spending time with these people.’”
