Hallmark Orders Drama Series ‘Ripple’ Set For New Streaming Service

EXCLUSIVE: Hallmark+ has given a straight-to-series order to the new one-hour drama series Ripple, created by Michele Giannusa.

From Lionsgate TV, Ripple explores how unexpectedly connected we are as human beings. Set in New York City, Nate, Kris, Walter and Aria have crossed paths hundreds of times, yet they’ve never met. Because of the seemingly minuscule decisions these core four make in the pilot, we’ll witness the ripple effect of how these strangers, all dealing with life’s challenges in their own way, are led to one another.

According to the streamer, “the message of this show is: just wait for the rainbow. Some of the best things in life can’t happen without the storm. Ripple amplifies a message of hope and reassurance that no matter what challenges come your way, we are never alone.”

Joni Lefkowitz will serve as the project’s showrunner. Production is set to begin in September in Toronto with Amanda Tapping directing the first two episodes. Casting is currently underway.

“Michele and Joni have crafted a beautiful story that celebrates how interconnected we all are and reminds us that the most extraordinary things can blossom from ordinary moments and hardships. The way this show weaves moments of sadness, joy, and everything in between is a journey that’s synonymous with our goals for Hallmark+ content – to bring a deep, enriching viewing journey that keeps our viewers invested episode to episode,” shared Lisa Hamilton Daly, Executive Vice President, Programming, Hallmark Media.

Michele Giannusa, Joni Lefkowitz, Jocelyn Hamilton and Amanda Tapping will executive produce Ripple.

As Deadline reported in August, Hallmark Media‘s new streaming service and membership program Hallmark+ is set to launch on Tuesday, September 10. Premiering day and date with the service are original series The Chicken Sisters, based on KJ Dell’Antonia’s bestseller, and the new, unscripted series Celebrations with Lacey Chabert, which shines a light on unsung heroes making a positive impact in their communities.

Also premiering in September are three new installments of The Jane Mysteries starring Jodie Sweetin and Stephen Huszar, and the Love on the Danube movie trilogy, set against the picturesque backdrop of a European river cruise.
