It’s taken 34 years for a Beetlejuice sequel to manifest, and you don’t even have to say his name three times to summon it - just twice will do. Yes, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is almost here, hitting cinemas in September, shortly after its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
Among the key players are returning are writer/director Tim Burton and stars Michael Keaton (as bio-exorcist Betelgeuse) and Winona Ryder (as the strange and unusual Lydia Deetz). Jenna Ortega is representing the next generation of the Deetz family as Lydia’s daughter, Astrid, following on from her collaboration with Tim Burton on Wednesday.
Inside the issue, Burton, Keaton, Ryder, Ortega and more - including Monica Bellucci and Justin Theroux - tell Total Film about reviving the cult favourite for a sequel that’s nothing like your typical franchise far. And Total Film visits the set in Leavesden Studios to get hands on with the practical effects.
Elsewhere in the issue, we’ve got the lowdown on the next big MCU project: Agatha All Along. The WandaVision spin-off is heading to Disney+ soon, and showrunner Jac Shaeffer and stars Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza and Joe Locke tell us what we can expect from this Witches’ Road trip.
Plus, big interview with the likes of Saoirse Ronan, Colman Domingo, Elizabeth Olsen, Carrie Coon and Natasha Lyonne, as well as an in-depth look at talking-point body horror The Substance, with Margaret Qualley and Demi Moore.
There are also new looks at The Penguin, Wolfs, The Wild Robot and more, plus all the news, reviews, and regulars you expect.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice cover story
Say his name three times and he reappears… Total Film ventures onto the wonky, chequerboard-floored set of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice - a direct sequel to Tim Burton’s '80s classic - and discovers why now’s the time to shake the juice loose…
The making of Agatha All Along
The breakout star of WandaVision, Agatha Harkness gets a standalone spin-off as the MCU heads off on another unpredictable tangent. Creator Jac Schaeffer and stars Kathryn Hahn, Aubrey Plaza and Joe Locke tell Total Film about the practical magic that went into creating Agatha All Along.
Colman Domingo interview
With a first Oscar nod of his career for Rustin, it’s been a banner year for Colman Domingo. Now he returns with Sing Sing, a prison drama that further cements his reputation as one of his generation’s best actors. Total Film joins him to talk about his new normal.
The story behind The Substance
It was the talk of Cannes - a full-bore, max-gore feminist body horror about an ageing actor reclaiming her glory days, starring Margaret Qualley and a never-better Demi Moore. Total Film meets the stars of The Substance, and writer/director Coralie Fargeat, to unpack a Hollywood nightmare.
Elizabeth Olsen, Natasha Lyonne and Carrie Coon in conversation
Saoirse Ronan career interview
Oscar-nominated while still in secondary school (and three times since), Saoirse Ronan is among the accomplished actors of her generation. Ahead of Steve McQueen’s home-front WW2 drama Blitz and another awards-worthy performance as a recovering alcoholic in The Outrun. Total Film meets a once-in-a-generation talent about to cut loose.
Wolfs, The Penguin and more…
In the front section, Teasers, director Jon Watts discusses his star-powered thriller Wolfs, starring George Clooney and Brad Pitt, and there are also new looks at The Penguin, Transformers One and Kate Winslet’s Lee.
