Hannah Waddingham Made This Power Move After a Red-Carpet Photographer's Sexist Remark

Hannah Waddingham is a triple-threat performer who has shown off her talents in Apple TV+’s Ted Lasso and on the West End stage. She’s known for her sharp wit and incredible voice, but a red-carpet photographer at the Olivier Awards on Sunday night took his encounter with the star in the wrong direction.

He reportedly asked her to “show leg” while posing for snapshots ahead of the ceremony. Not surprisingly, that comment landed poorly with the Emmy winner, who gracefully called out his sexist remark. In an X video captured by a fan, Waddingham was seen confronting the cameraman while walking down the steps of the Royal Albert Hall. “Oh my God, you’d never say that to a man,” Waddingham said in the clip. “Don’t be a dick otherwise I’ll move off. Don’t say ‘Show me leg.’ No.” She was understandably not pleased with his actions as she walked off shaking her finger and her head.

Waddingham’s power move shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone because she’s always “called out” any “misogynistic male photographers,” dating back to her modeling days. “They would then try to fight their corner, but I never let it go; I always called it out – but back then, it was at a time when people didn’t back you up,” she told Glamour UK. “But I know that I’ve always given off an air of: ‘I will literally kill you if you treat me like that!’”

Her daughter, Kitty, 9, is one of the reasons for her strength because she wants her to feel empowered if something tries to make her feel smaller via sexism or harassment. “I have a shorter fuse for bulls**t now,” Waddingham admitted while revealing this mantra is also a part of her dating strategy. “I know that someone will come along who likes a strong, opinionated woman, and is inspired by it rather than terrified!”

So, fans got to witness a moment of Waddingham’s badass self. She’s not going to take any nonsense from anyone — and it’s why her fans are calling her a “role model.” And we love that it was all caught on camera.
