Update: In May 2018, Nico Tortorella announced that they are gender fluid and use they/them pronouns. This content was written in April 2016, before they publicly announced their gender identity.
This year, it’s all beat boxing with a side of brunch.
Gearing up for the 2016 Movie Awards, MTV hosted its 4th annual Movie Awards Weekend Brunch with Scream Queens‘ Keke Palmer, Empire‘s Ta Rhonda Jones, Younger‘s Nico Tortorella and singer Bebe Rexha, who touched on all kinds of topics from nominees to performers, red carpet fashion to award show style, favorite movie moments and, of course, those they are rooting for in each category.
In the PEOPLE exclusive clip, Jones starts a beat boxing session at the table while eating brunch with her pals.
“The MTV Movie Awards, I guarantee you that you won’t be bored,” she says. “We sittin’ in the seat and guess who we get – Keke and Bebe, Nico and TT. I say, Keke and Bebe, Nico and TT.”
While the four were in-sync when it came to beat boxing, they were no where near on the same page when it came down to their favorite movie of the year – and who they would vote for.
“My favorite dramatic film would be Room,” Palmer tells PEOPLE behind-the-scenes at the brunch. “Brie Larson was amazing and I m so happy for her to know that she started as a child – I think that s amazing.”
She adds of five-time nominated film, Deadpool, “My favorite comedy/action would be Deadpool [because] it was a really well done movie. I was never a big fan of Ryan Reynolds before this, so what I love about the movie was that I felt like I kind of finally got to see what makes him so awesome and different from anybody else. The style of comedy he did and how he was breaking the fourth wall, I thought it was very unique and that s what I admire.”
Agreeing with Jones on what she believes is the best film of the year, Rexha says she hopes to see Straight Outta Compton pick up the two awards it’s nominated for – considering its snub at the Oscars.
“Straight Outta Compton was such a great movie and, obviously, I m in the music business, so getting to see that piece of history was amazing, and it was an incredible movie,” says Rehxa.
Though Tortorella’s film of choice was not nominated, he’ll still be there to cheer on everyone else’s.
“There was a film called Tangerine,” he says. “It was about two trans women living in Hollywood, it was f***ing hysterical.”
Clips from the brunch will air through out the day both Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3. The MTV Movie Awards hosted by Kevin Hart and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson will air April 10 at 8 p.m. EST on MTV.
