We ain't afraid of Hasbro's new 'Monopoly: Ghostbusters Edition' (exclusive)
If you’re stuck at home and you’ve played every board game in your house, who ya gonna call? Hasbro! Having previously unveiled a must-have replica of Egon Spengler’s Neutrona Wand, the toy giant is now offering a Ghostbusters edition of the ever-popular Monopoly franchise. Available at major retailers on April 26 for $29.99, this game faithfully recreates the settings and supernatural technology from Ivan Reitman’s 1984 comedy classic.
Instead of buying New York locations, anywhere from two to six players will make the trip around this particular Monopoly board purchasing Ghostbusting contracts, allowing you to ply your trade at the New York Public Library or the Sedgewick Hotel. When you achieve a color set, you can add Ghost Traps and work your way up to a Containment Unit. Land on a Supernatural Entity space, and team up with your fellow Ghostbusters to ‘bust entities like Slimer and the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.
A big part of the fun of playing this version of Monopoly is picking your player piece. The Ghostbusters-themed tokens are a mixture of fan-favorite props like a PKE Meter, Proton Pack and Ecto Goggles along with such deeper cuts as a radio, Dana’s cello and Janine’s glasses.
Jason Reitman’s highly anticipated sequel Ghostbusters: Afterlife may be delayed until March 2021, but playing Ghostbusters-themed Monopoly is guaranteed to lift your spirits until then.
Monopoly: Ghostbusters Edition will be available on April 26 at most major retailers.
