Healthy Kid-Approved Oat Waffle Recipe
Kids love to eat waffles any time of the day. However, we all know it isn’t a healthy option to start the day. Kids need energy to stay active, and regular waffles won’t make the cut. Moreover, kids might get hungry within 1-2 hours with everyday waffles. This is when oat waffles come in handy!
Tweak the recipe with oats and bananas and give your kids an abundance of energy to kick start their day. From a mom’s point of view, kids will stay full for extended periods and ask for this delicious oat waffle high in protein and fiber every morning, so it’s a win-win.
However, there are a few things to keep in mind. If your child is lactose intolerant, you can make these oat waffles with plant-based milk alternatives. Also, you can substitute whole wheat flour with plain flour, depending on your kid’s taste preference. Also, the waffle might be a bit dense due to rolled oats. For a lighter texture, blitz the oats into oat flour and use that instead.
Make sure to cook the oat waffles on medium heat so it cooks all the way through. Moreover, since the recipe has blueberry, it might stick to the waffle maker. Grease it well with spray oil to avoid the blueberry from sticking to the pan.
Mamas, here comes the best part of this oat waffle recipe. You can easily freeze the oat waffle in an airtight container for up to four months. Before eating, defrost and reheat the waffles in a toaster. Use the defrost setting of the toaster first, then toast the defrosted waffle on low to warm it thoroughly.
