Hear Metallica Perform ‘The Unforgiven II’ Live For The Second Time Ever
Back on Dec 8, 1997, Metallica played the Reload epic “The Unforgiven II” on the Billboard Music Awards. It took them 17 years to play it again, when they brought it out at Gelsenkirchen, Germany’s Rock Im Revier festival on May 29.

Since then, according to Metallica’s official site, the band has played it a third time (on May 31 in Munich), so perhaps it’ll become a more regular occurrence.

The track was written as a sequel to “The Unforgiven,” from Metallica’s 1991 self-titled behemoth.
The band has hinted it’s back in the studio working on its new album; in the meantime, Metallica has U.S. and European dates linked up through Aug. 30, including a stop at Lollapalooza.
