Heather Locklear says she's 'so grateful' to be sober ahead of 30-day stay in mental health facility
Ahead of Heather Locklear’s court-mandated 30-day stay in a residential mental health facility, she’s feeling “so grateful” for her sobriety.
Breaking her silence for the first time since she pleaded no contest to eight charges of battery and resisting officers, the Melrose Place alum shared a photo of a few of her favorite things. One was an inspirational message about sobriety that said, “You’re still sober. Keep that sh** up.” The others included a picture from her now-grown daughter, Ava, and a photo of her dog, Mister.
In response to the 57-year-old’s caption saying she’s “so grateful,” her followers — including her Melrose co-star Lisa Rinna and her ex-husband Tommy Lee’s new wife, Brittany Furlan — posted encouraging words.
Locklear can use all the encouragement. Last week, she pleaded no contest to battery charges. The deal allows her to do 30-days in a residential mental health facility instead of jail time. However, if she doesn’t complete the treatment program, she’ll be slapped with a 120-day jail sentence.
She has until Sept. 6 to enroll in the treatment facility. And she could be there already — with the photo of some of the personal effects she brought along.
Locklear was arrested in February 2018 for felony domestic violence and battery on a police officer. Months later, in June of that year, she was arrested again for allegedly attacking a law enforcement officer and an EMT.
People magazine reported earlier this year that Locklear — once the queen of primetime television — has been in rehab somewhere between 20 and 25 times to combat her substance abuse issues. A source said, “her issue is alcohol, pills, and her mental health.”
So all encouraging messages about sobriety — like the one she shared today — are good ones.
