The Heathers Cast: Where Are They Now?
Sophie Dodd
After her turn as the new recruit of the titular clique led to her character committing accidental murder (and later saving her school from disaster), Ryder went on to act in more than 40 films, including Edward Scissorhands (1990), Bram Stoker's Dracula (1992), The Age of Innocence (1993), Little Women (1994) and Girl, Interrupted (1999). After a few years' hiatus, she returned to the big screen with Star Trek (2009), Black Swan (2010), Experimenter (2015) and Destination Wedding (2018). She currently stars on Netflix's Stranger Things.

Slater stuck to the big screen throughout the '90s, including roles in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (1991), True Romance (1993), Murder in the First (1995), Broken Arrow (1996) and Very Bad Things (1998), for which he was also the executive producer. He popped up on episodes of The West Wing and Alias in the early 2000s, before winning a Golden Globe for his starring role in USA's Mr. Robot in 2016.

She channeled some witchy energy as Prue Halliwell on Charmed from 1998 to 2001, and joined the 2018 Heathers TV series as J.D.'s mom for a few episodes. In 2015, Doherty revealed to PEOPLE that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. After undergoing a single mastectomy in 2016, she announced she was in remission the following year.

She continued to act in a variety of TV movies and returned to the big screen with Leather Jackets (1991), then took a few years off before picking up roles in The First to Go (1997) and Shattered Image (1998). While she retired from acting after her last short film in 2002, she continues to show her support for the Heathers on her Instagram.

Walker continued to act through the early '90s, reuniting with costar Lisanne Falk for Say Anything (1989) and landing a role in Nervous Ticks (1992) and The Favor (1994) before appearing on a few TV shows, including The Outsiders. Walker's final role was Killing Cinderella (2000). The following year, she died of a brain tumor at age 32.
Moviestore/REX/ShutterstockVeronica's lovable, nerdy former BFF went on to act in a handful of TV movies in the early '90s before heading back to the big screen for Paper Hearts (1993) and Endangered (1994). Starting in 1999, she acted alongside her father Martin Sheen for seven years as the assistant Nancy on The West Wing. Estevez has continued to work with her famous family members, writing a few episodes for brother Charlie Sheen's show Anger Management in 2013 and 2014.

He played Bud Roberts on JAG from 1995 to 2005, before appearing on TV shows including Dexter and iCarly in the late 2000s. In the past few years, he's guest starred on American Crime Story, Scandal and NCIS, among other series.
