‘Heels’ Licensed To Netflix, Update On Potential Third Season
Heels is moving to a new home, which could potentially lead to a third season of the canceled show.
STARZ canceled Heels after two seasons in September, and the series actively looked for a new home. Updates have been few and far between since them.
Lesley Goldberg of The Hollywood Reporter reports that Lionsgate Worldwide Television Distribution has licensed Heels to Netflix. As a result, Netflix will have nonexclusive rights to both seasons of the show, which stars Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig.
Update On Potential Third Season For ‘Heels’
Goldberg reports that, per sources, while Netflix has not renewed Heels, the platform could opt to do so if the series performs well. However, these sources also highlighted some logistical challenges. Amell is set to star in Suits: L.A., which is expected to get picked up by NBC, so his availability is unclear. Likewise, Ludwig is set to star in MGM+’s Earth Abides.
The report notes that Netflix had been negotiating for Heels in recent months. Goldberg writes that Lionsgate Television had been shopping it since its cancellation in September. Netflix is a fitting home for the series, as WWE RAW will move to the streamer in January 2025.
WrestleZone will provide more information as it becomes available.
