Here's what you need to know about construction detours on the Ann & Roy Butler Trail
Even amid the scorching heat, trails around Austin are a popular summer destination for hiking and biking. But several trails are undergoing construction over the next several months.
The Trail Conservancy, the nonprofit organization that oversees development of the Ann & Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail has announced construction closures that will impact the city center trail.

Here's what you need to know:
Longhorn Dam
Construction of a new Longhorn Dam pedestrian bridge began July 8 and will cause an 18-month detour to Butler Trail.
Longhorn Shores and tunnel from Krieg Fields under Pleasant Valley Road closed
Krieg Fields access still available
Eastbound vehicular traffic closed on Canterbury Street with one way traffic flow to continue westbound
No public access to Canterbury Park and its parking lot
Unnamed peninsula beginning near Holly Street closed
Ann and Roy Butler Hike and Bike Trail rerouted northbound along the east side of Pleasant Valley Road beginning July 15
Detour continues westbound along Canterbury Street and complete southbound down Pedernales and Holly Streets beginning July 15

Waller Creek Confluence
The second phase of the Waterloo Greenway will cause its first detour on July 22. The detour will, weather permitting, end around late August. Waller Creek will undergo construction of new lattice bridges, the Lagoon Overlook and the Leaf Deck for the Confluence.
Detour will take trail users to a temporary trail east of the existing Waller Creek bridge
Crossing of Waller Creek will continue on existing bridge
Be aware of potential stops for construction traffic during work hours of 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
