Here's everything that Funko is bringing to San Diego Comic-Con this year
Nobody puts the fun in San Diego’s Comic-Con International like Funko. Every year, the leading name in vinyl collectibles shows up on the convention floor with a full line of must-have exclusives. Here’s a look at Funko’s Pop! offerings for SDCC’s 50th year, which run the gamut from television classics to contemporary film (and comic) favorites.
The Big Bang Theory
The Big Bang Theory may be gone, but CBS’s beloved sitcom will live on in syndication, spin-offs (like Young Sheldon) and these new Pop! collectibles, which feature the five core cast members as DC Comics superheroes. Look for them exclusively at Walmart if you miss out in San Diego.
Disney
Where are our Black Cauldron fans at? The cult Disney favorite is arguably the crown jewel of Funko’s Mouse House offerings, with a must-have Amazon exclusive two-pack of Taran and the Horned King. Other sets include a pair of Box Lunch exclusives: Up’s Carl and Ellie, and Moana and her animal sidekicks. And don’t forget the two Toy Story singles, Amazon’s Chuckles and Hot Topic’s Mr. Pricklepants. The latter store also has your exclusive on The Hunchback of Notre Dame’s singing star, Quasimodo.
Marvel
Flesh out your Marvel Studios Pop! collection with Wong striking his Avengers: Endgame battle pose or Captain Marvel’s battle-ready Minn-Erva. (Wong is a Walgreens exclusive, while Minn-Erva can be found at GameStop.) Marvel Comics completists, meanwhile, can pick up Man-Thing or Gamora in her comic book look. (Entertainment Earth has the exclusive on Man-Thing, while Gamora is more of a Hot Topic kind of Guardian.)
DC
Marvel’s Distinguished Competition is celebrating the 80th anniversary of their number one Bat-dude with a special teal chrome varnish available exclusively at GameStop. The Flash’s Cisco gets a Hot Topic exclusive and The Green Hornet’s Kato high kicks on Toy Tokyo.
The Wizarding World
Expecto Funkonum! A trio of Wizarding World vinyl collectibles will be apparating in San Diego. The phoenix Fawkes rises at Hot Topic, while tabloid scribbler Rita Skeeter and snakelike Nagini are exclusive to Barnes & Noble.
Netflix Favorites
The Upside Down may be dark and full of terrors, but this gold-cast Demogorgon should be easy to spot through all that gloom. Look for it at Barnes & Noble, where you can also find Disenchantment’s Bean. And get ready to meet your new favorite Gelfling, Mira, one of the stars of the streaming service’s highly anticipated prequel series The Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance. Finally, before she embarked on her chilling Netflix adventures, Sabrina the Teenage Witch lived a more G-rated comic book existence. Accordingly, this Funko Pop—available at Hot Topic—has been made in the image of her comic book counterpart, rather than Kiernan Shipka.
Classic Movies Favorites
Run, Forrest, run...to collect each of these Pop! figures from seven beloved movies. Tom Hanks’s bearded Gump is an SDCC exclusive, while Office Space’s walking posterboard for Post-Its partners SDCC and ThinkGeek. Super (starship) trooper, Johnny Rico, can be found at GameStop, while the Teen Wolf and the world’s best male model are both Target exclusives. Scott Pilgrim’s Vegan Police work only for themselves (and Funko Shop) and last, but not least, the Quint-chomping shark is a mean main course for Entertainment Earth.
Classic TV Favorites
Calling all ’70s kids! The stars of two beloved Sid and Marty Krofft classics are ready for their close-up. H.R. Pufnstuf and Sigmund are both Funko Shop exclusives. Meanwhile, Barnes & Noble has the exclusive on a new Doctor Who favorite, the Pting, one of the standout alien species introduced during the Thirteenth Doctor’s inaugural season. And GameStop brings frequent SDCC guest, Conan O’Brien, to San Diego in vinyl and cereal form.
Animation
Funko’s animation offerings this year are drawn from a mix of classic and cutting-edge cartoons. Springfield’s alien visitors, Kang and Kodos, beam down to San Diego in glow-in-the-dark form, courtesy of SDCC and GameStop. Give Hoppy, Baby Puss and Astronaut Snoopy (exclusive to the Funko Shop and Barnes & Noble respectively) pats on the head, before heading to Hot Topic for their RWBY and Neon Genesis Evangelion figures. That’s also the place where you’ll find the Vegeta collectible, while Box Lunch is home to Gotkens. And Funko Shop also has the exclusive on a pair of Hanna-Barbera rarities, hailing from the 1968 cartoon, Wacky Races..
Video Game Favorites
For serious gamers, Walmart has your glow in the dark Loot Llama needs, and GameStop is your destination for Overwatch.
