Hillary Clinton hijacks 'Late Late Show' monologue to roast Trump
Hillary and Chelsea Clinton hijacked The Late Late Show With James Corden monologue on Tuesday night to throw a few zingers aimed mostly at President Donald Trump. Hillary kicked things off mocking Trump’s rallying of support for Sean Spicer’s less-than-stellar stint on Dancing With the Stars. Spicer regularly gets low scores, but Trump’s base voting from home has kept Spider on the show to the chagrin of the judges and a lot of fans. But it was the punchline to Hillary’s joke that really hit Trump where it hurts the most.
“I can’t blame Trump for trying to help Sean Spicer,” Hillary said, “but if it’s one thing we’ve learned, it’s that these guys really can’t win the popular vote.”
Chelsea got in on the action and took a swipe at Spicers time as White House Press Secretary.
“Former White House spokesman Sean Spicer is now on Dancing With the Stars,” Chelsea said. “It is an improvement on his old job: Dancing around the issues.”
The New York Times recently published a lengthy analysis of Trump’s over 11,000 tweets since taking office in which they discovered some bizarre but not too surprising patterns. And Chelsea provided some analysis of her own.
“Fifty percent of Trump’s tweets have been attacks on people,” Chelsea said, “but 100 percent have been attacks on the English language.”
For her final joke, Hillary took a leap from one of Trump’s least favorite subjects, the 2016 popular vote, to one that Trump just won’t let go.
“It’s pretty shocking, it came out to a total of 6,000 tweets attacking people,” Hillary said. “Even more surprising, only 3,000 of those were about my emails.”
The Late Late Show With James Corden airs weeknights at 12:35 a.m. on CBS.
