Hoda Kotb Sobs Over 60th Birthday Gift From ‘Today’ Producers

Hoda Kotb celebrated a milestone birthday on Friday, and her colleagues over at the Today show celebrated her and her work all morning.

During the Monday, Aug. 12, broadcast, the team honored "60 years of this woman, Hoda," and the "wonderful privilege to work" alongside her every day by running back the tapes for an emotional montage of moments showcasing Kotb's impact. Producers even reunited Kotb with some extra special guests.

As her co-stars Craig Melvin and Savannah Guthrie introduced the segment highlighting some of the most impactful and inspirational stories Kotb was part of, the birthday girl was admittedly nervous. Her lips began quivering shortly after a photo of Leah and Devon Still popped up on the screen. As Devon started recalling the "powerful moment" he and his family met Kotb to film the "Truly Brave" special, which highlighted the tough fighters of childhood cancer, the NBC media personality broke down in tears.

The montage then cut to a special message from another subject involved in a story Kotb helped bring to national attention: Bart Conley, who six months into his marriage discovered his wife Jill had breast cancer. Bart recalled Kotb becoming a lifelong friend to the couple after meeting them at a Breast Cancer research benefit.

Then it was Frank and Stacey Parrado's turn to reminisce on their relationship with the Making Space podcast host, who was introduced to the couple while reporting on their adoption story.

Leah, who is now nine years cancer-free, was joined by her father Devon, as well as Bart, Frank and Stacey and their daughter Addison, who all walked out on stage for a surprise appearance that had the already emotional Kotb sobbing.

"It's too much," Kotb told her co-hosts while trying to hold back tears. "It's too much."
