Everything we know about Hong Kong Disneyland's Marvel-ous new attraction, 'Ant-Man and The Wasp: Nano Battle!'
This summer, Walt Disney’s two stateside theme parks, Disneyland and Disney World, are poised to open a major new attraction: the Star Wars-themed land, Galaxy’s Edge. Starting this weekend, visitors to Hong Kong Disneyland will be able to check out the biggest little ride from another Disney-owned property: Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle! opens its doors on March 31, joining the Hong Kong theme park’s other Marvel-ous attraction, Iron Man Experience. Ant-Man himself, Paul Rudd was on hand to preview Nano Battle! alongside Marvel Studio’s boss, Kevin Feige. The actor reprises his role alongside Evangeline Lily’s Wasp, the first female hero to headline a Disney-based Marvel attraction. Here’s an illustrated guide of what to expect from the pint-sized theme park adventure.
Nano Battle! boasts an all-new storyline that dovetails with Iron Man Experience and pits the titular heroes against HYDRA bad guy Arnim Zola. While Tony Stark tangles with an army of HYDRA-bots, Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne are tasked with keeping S.H.I.E.L.D. Pavilion safe from Zola’s Swarmbots. Further help is provided by the Pavilion’s chief engineer, Leslie Lam, played by popular Hong Kong star Jessica Hsuan.
To combat the Swambots, Scott and Hope have to crack their ultra-tough armor by getting ultra-small. Riders can assist by climbing into an all-new combat vehicle, the D/AGR or Dagger.
The Dagger comes equipped with a pair of EMP Blasters that disable the Swambots. Work with your ride partner to aim and fire at 150 different targets.
Ant-Man and Ant-Man and the Wasp director Peyton Reed was involved behind-the-scenes with Nano Battle! and made sure to integrate Marvel Cinematic Universe Easter eggs into the ride.
And, of course, no Disney attraction is complete without a merch-stuffed gift shop for you to exit through.
More Marvel fun is on the way at Hong Kong Disneyland. Throughout the spring, a “Carnivale of Stars” event will give visitors the chance to find references to heroes like Spider-Man, Black Panther and Captain Marvel hidden in different Disney lands. And another yet-to-be revealed MCU attraction is under construction as part of the park’s planned expansion. Personally, we’re rooting for Mr. Korg’s Wild Ride.
Ant-Man and the Wasp: Nano Battle! opens at Hong Kong Disneyland on March 31.
