Horns up for a 'Delta Dawn'! Tanya Tucker to play free Longhorn City Limits show in Austin

Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Tanya Tucker will be headlining the next installment of Longhorn City Limits on Sep. 21. The free, on-campus concert presented by Still Austin Whiskey Co. will take place on the LBJ lawn in the afternoon prior to the Texas football game versus the University of Louisiana at Monroe (ULM).

Tanya Tucker recently played ACL Fest, Two Step Inn

Tucker is no stranger to Austin. The “Delta Dawn” singer hit the Central Texas stages twice in 2023, for Georgetown’s Two Step Inn Music Festival and the Austin City Limits Music Festival. Nominated for Best Country Artist at the Austin Music Awards in 2021, she made her local mark onscreen with an "Austin City Limits TV" taping last year. Now, the country legend is taking the stage at the Forty Acres at 5 p.m. with opening support by Kathryn Legendre at 3:30 p.m.

“It’s so exciting welcoming country royalty Tanya Tucker to the Forty Acres and Longhorn City Limits,” said Chris Del Conte, Vice President and Folger Family Athletics Director.  “Longhorn Nation can look forward to a memorable night on the LBJ Lawn celebrating her incredible legacy before another fantastic Texas Football gameday.”

Drinks and eats to beat the summer heat

Students 21 and over can beat the heat with signature drinks at the Still Austin Music Lounge, including a special Horns Up Bourbon Lemonade. The Tito’s Tailgate will also be making its return in front of the LBJ fountain with its own cocktails on tap and exclusive Tito’s x Texas bandanas. Pinkerton’s BBQ is still serving on the lawn every game day, bringing mighty, smoked delights for meat lovers. The San Antonio and Houston chain recently opened its first satellite location in Austin’s Highland district.

Longhorn City Limits is once again hosting the post-game silent disco, where attendees will receive a pair of wireless headphones with the ability to choose between audio channels connected to three live DJs.
