Hulu Orders Prehistoric Times Pilot From ‘Without a Trace’ Creator
Hulu is going back — way back — in time for prehistoric drama pilot “Dawn,” as part of a partnership with MGM.
The epic drama follows a tribe of Neanderthals as they struggle to survive and hold on to their way of life after coming into contact with a family of Homo sapiens, the studio said. At the intersection of evolution and genocide, “Dawn” asks the fundamental question: ‘What does it mean to be human?’
Hank Steinberg (“Without a Trace,” pictured above) and Ken Nolan (“Black Hawk Down”) will serve as the creators and executive producers on the potential series. The pilot will be directed by Robert Stromberg (“Maleficent”).

MGM is in final talks with the following members for “Dawn’s” ensemble cast: Fola Evans Akingbola (as Pakalan), Temuera Morrison (Wikkanak), Carl Shaaban (Buzur), and Matthew Hopkinson (Kamak).
Production on “Dawn” is scheduled to begin in Ireland May 9.
