Hunter Schafer: ‘I Have No F**king Idea’ About ‘Euphoria’ Season 3
Even Hunter Schafer is confused by the reports that “Euphoria” will return.
HBO confirmed that Season 3 will begin filming in January 2025, with series breakout stars Schafer, Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, and the entire principal cast returning. However, Schafer said during the “Call Her Daddy” podcast that she has “no fucking idea” about the slated season.

“The real tea is I have no fucking idea what’s going on,” the “Cuckoo” star said, “and you can ask literally all of the cast.”
“Euphoria” Season 3 has been plagued with strike delays and rumors of clashes between showrunner Sam Levinson and two-time Emmy winner Zendaya, who also produces the show. In a July 2024 exposé published in The Hollywood Reporter, a source claimed that the allegations of a toxic workplace during Levinson’s “The Idol” production affected Zendaya, who allegedly turned down Levinson’s initial script ideas for “Euphoria” Season 3.
“Euphoria” has been off the air since Season 2 concluded in February 2022. When it returns, it will be without two prominent cast members: Angus Cloud, who played drug dealer Fez, died in 2023; and Barbie Ferreira announced her exit in August 2022.
“I think everyone feels a certain sense of anticipation for if we are supposed to do Season 3,” Schafer said. “Obviously I’m still coming to qualms about what’s happened and losing people that we really loved and were a part of this family and everything.”
Schafer added, “If we do go back, that’s going to be tough.”
The actress also pointed to network politics as being part of the delays. “I think there’s a world in which we can channel that into making it a beautiful Season 3 if it is supposed to happen, but I think that shit really threw everyone for a loop,” Schafer said of losing her co-stars. “And then there’s all these industry, whatever, political things that go into whether or not this is happening, but that’s emotionally … a big part of what’s happening, too.”
Schafer even admitted that she originally planned on quitting TV entirely after “Euphoria” concludes. Now, she is starring in Ridley Scott’s “Blade Runner 2099” series for Prime Video alongside Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh.
“I feel like I did TV and that was such a great intro to acting, but, since moving into films, I realized I love the film format so much more — TV is a beast,” Schafer, who made her screen debut with “Euphoria,” said. “I was really under the impression with myself that I was not going to do TV after ‘Euphoria’ is over.”
Schafer told IndieWire that she is “pretty used to” being asked about the rumors around “Euphoria.” “I get it. Also, it’s like, that show was my entryway into this world,” she said. “But yeah, it’s something I’m used to and have to navigate based on where we’re at in making the show.”
Schafer recently starred in “Cuckoo” and “Kinds of Kindness.” She also has wrapped production on David Lowery’s “Mother Mary” alongside Anne Hathaway and Michaela Coel.
