Ick Cast: Brandon Routh & Mena Suvari to Lead Horror Comedy Movie
According to Variety, Superman Returns’ Brandon Routh and American Beauty’s Mena Suvari have signed on for the leading roles in the upcoming horror movie Ick.
Routh and Suvari are set to portray former childhood sweethearts who must face an alien invasion. In addition, Malina Weissman (Lemony Snicket’s Series of Unfortunate Events) has also been cast for the project, which “aims to evoke the timeless creature features of the 1980s with an ambitious arsenal of scares and comedy.”
What to expect in Ick?
“The film follows Hank, a high school science teacher who still pines for his childhood sweetheart,” reads the synopsis. “While discovering he may have a teenage daughter, Hank must grapple with a terrifying alien anomaly invading their small town.”
Ick will be directed by Grammy-winning music director Joseph Kahn from a screenplay he co-wrote with Sam Laskey and Dan Koontz. The upcoming monster movie is expected to combine “old school prosthetics and state of the art visual effects.” It will be produced by Steven Schneider, with Udaya Sharma executive producing.
“Embedded within Ick are universal themes of bravery, self-sacrifice and the eternal human quest to face the unknown,” Sharma said in a statement. “Our goal is to not just captivate our audience but to also invoke deep introspection about confronting the unimaginable, while also being incredible pop entertainment for all ages.”
