Ilona Maher, Stephen Nedoroscik represent New England, present at The Emmys

New England was well represented at television's biggest honors last night, as Olympians Ilona Maher and Stephen Nedoroscik graced the stage of the 76th Primetime Emmys to present an award.

Maher, who won bronze at the 2024 games this summer in women's rugby sevens, is from Burlington, Vermont. Nedoroscik, who also won two bronze medals in his pommel horse specialty in Paris, is from Worcester, Massachusetts.

The two appeared on stage at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles during the show Sunday night to help present the award for Directing For a Drama Series alongside fellow Olympian Caeleb Dressel and Paralympian Ezra Frech.

Olympians Ilona Maher and Stephen Nedoroscik helped present the award for Directing For a Drama Series Sunday at The Emmys.

The New Englanders appeared on stage alongside Caeleb Dressel and Ezra Frech to give the envelope with the category's winner to actors Brendan Hunt and Jane Lynch.

Hunt and Lynch were presenting the award as part of a segment about sports coaching, as they played coaches on "Ted Lasso" and "Glee," respectively.

Frederick E.O. Toye won the Emmy for his directing in Shōgun.

Maher and Nedoroscik's appearance at the show came just days before they are set to star on the latest season of "Dancing with the Stars."

Who is Ilona Maher?

Ilona Maher is an Olympic medalist and professional rugby sevens player from Burlington, Vermont. She won a bronze medal in women's rugby sevens at the 2024 Paris Olympics, bringing home the first ever American medal in the event.

She is set to star on the upcoming season of "Dancing with the Stars," which premieres on Sept. 17.

The 28-year-old is a graduate of Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut, where she played rugby and studied nursing.

Maher grew up playing field hockey, basketball and softball and took up rugby when she was 17-years-old.

Who is Stephen Nedoroscik?

Stephen Nedoroscik is an Olympic gymnast from Worcester, Massachusetts.

He won an Olympic bronze medal in the pommel horse event, his specialty, at the Paris Olympics. He also won a bronze medal for the men's gymnastics team final, the first time the United States medaled in the event in 16 years.

The 25-year-old is set to star on the upcoming season of "Dancing with the Stars," which premieres on Sept. 17.

The gymnast also has two eye conditions, strabismus and coloboma, that impair his vision, causing him to wear glasses.
