‘Imaginary Mary’ Sneak Peek: Guacamole With a Side of Insanity?
Fifteen years after her long-running sitcom Dharma & Greg ended, Jenna Elfman is returning to ABC with Imaginary Mary. The comedy blends live action with CGI as Elfman’s character Alice, a severely commitment-phobic public relations exec, falls in love with a single father of three (Stephen Schneider) — prompting the unexpected return of her meddlesome (though well-meaning) childhood imaginary friend Mary (voiced by SNL alum Rachel Dratch). And now that Alice is all grown up, she greets her fictional former friend as any sane adult would: With sheer panic and denial.
On set, Elfman shoots her scenes with a puppeteer first, and later animators create Mary via computer animation wizardry.
Imaginary Mary will air a sneak preview on Wednesday, March 29 at 8:30 p.m., before moving to Tuesdays at 9:30 p.m. on ABC.
