Ingrid Andress Says She's Entering Rehab After Home Run Derby National Anthem Performance
Ingrid Andress wrote on social media that she was drunk during her performance of the national anthem at Monday night’s Home Run Derby.
“I’m not gonna bullshit y’all, I was drunk last night. I’m checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need,” the country singer wrote on social media. “That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition. I’ll let y’all know how rehab is I hear it’s super fun.”
Andress’ singing of the anthem prompted people on social media to label it “one of the worst national anthem performances ever,” with some comparing it to Fergie’shighly criticized national anthem performance at the 2018 NBA All-Star game.
Singer Julia Michaels commented on Andress’ Instagram post, writing, “Love you girl. I’m sorry you’re going through this And I’m sorry the world can be so cruel. Here for you xx.”
Country singer Carly Pearce joined Michaels, writing, “I’m sending you love, Ingrid. Being this open takes a lot. You’ve got this. Hang in there.”
Andress has been nominated for four Grammys, and her duet with Sam Hunt, “Wishful Drinking,” reached No. 1 on country radio in 2022.
