Is Donald Trump Responsible for Matt Damon's Career?
The always lovable Matt Damon stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and reminisced about being a struggling actor. The 45-year-old said he and his best friend, 43-year-old Ben Affleck, used to travel from Boston to New York for auditions when they were 16 and 14 years old, respectively.
“We used to fly Trump Air to get to New York when he bought Eastern Airlines,” Damon said. Fallon asked, “So you have to thank Donald Trump for your career?” To which Damon replied, “Yes, yes.” Damon went on to say, “Well, I could also thank Greyhound because we took the bus sometimes, too.“
Damon did reveal, however, that he attributes much of his success to Tommy Lee Jones. Damon said he and Affleck were broke until Jones cast Damon in the TV movie The Good Old Boys. "That paid me $20,000. I’ll never forget,” said Damon. “And that was the money that allowed Ben and I to not have to go get other jobs so we could stay at home and write Good Will Hunting.”
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon airs weeknights at 11:35 p.m. on NBC.
