J.K. Rowling Hints at Revealing Dumbledore's Sexuality in Future 'Fantastic Beasts' Films
Fans of wizardly worlds have known for a long time that J.K. Rowling imagined Albus Dumbledore to be gay, even though the chamber of the professor’s secret remained closed throughout all eight Harry Potter films. But that chamber may be opening in Fantastic Beasts 2.
At a recent press conference in New York City for Fantastic Beasts, Rowling told Screen Crush, “Well, I can’t tell you everything I would like to say because this is obviously a five-part story, so there’s lots to unpack in that relationship. I will say that you will see Dumbledore as a younger man, and quite a troubled man because he wasn’t always the sage. He was always very clever, but we’ll see what I think was the formative period of his life. As far as his sexuality is concerned, watch the space.”
According to Screen Crush, if this were to happen, Dumbledore would become the first major openly gay character in a studio franchise.
