Jake Schreier to Direct ‘Paper Towns’ from ‘Fault in Our Stars’ Author John Green

“Robot & Frank” helmer Jake Schreier will direct Fox 2000’s adaptation of “Paper Towns.”
Based on the novel by “The Fault in Our Stars” author John Green and starring Nat Wolff (who played a supporting role in “TFiOS”), the story follows a young man who shares a jarring experience with his neighbor Margo: They find a man who committed suicide. They grow apart, but one night he finds her at his bedroom window, dressed like a ninja. She enlists him in a campaign to get revenge on people who’ve hurt her. The next day, she vanishes and he is left to ponder the ramifications of the evening. Then he begins getting clues from her and follows them in an attempt to track her down.
Green confirmed the news on his twitter as he has with his other projects.
Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey are producing. Scott Neustadter and Michael H. Weber (who also adapted “The Fault in Our Stars”) are writing the script.
After the success of “Fault in Our Stars,” which grossed $280 million worldwide, Fox is hopeful fans of Green and Wolff have an appetite for another complex YA love story.
Schreier is repped by CAA and Oasis Media Group, and “Paper Towns” marks his first directing job at a major studio.
