A Message Of Body Positivity
Not only does Jameela Jamil star on The Good Place but she has also became a champion of body positivity online. She has spoken in the past about why she takes it so seriously, explaining:
"I don’t want to worry about stretch marks or cellulite or time or gravity showing on my face and my body. These things are deliberately there ― to go full ‘tin hat’ on you ― they are here to distract us, to give us something else to think about so that we’re not thinking about growing our businesses and our families and our lives and our hearts and our minds. It’s so aggressive how pervasive it is and how it’s everywhere... It takes someone and something aggressive to tear that down."
She Has Criticized The Kardashians In Particular
One of her main goals is to point out damaging things in the media, and she has called out the Kardashians and their promotion of danger products like the Flat Tummy Tea and the kind of message that it saids to impressionable young people. She went as far as to call Kim a "double agent of the patriarchy."
"The double agent for the patriarchy is basically just a woman who maybe unknowingly is still putting the patriarchal narrative out into the world. Is still benefiting off, profiting off, and selling, a patriarchal narrative to other women. But it’s a wolf in sheep's clothing.
You’re selling us an ideal, a body shape, a problem with our wrinkles, a problem with aging, a problem with gravity, a problem with any kind of body fat. You’re selling us self-consciousness."
Khloe's Latest Scam
Khloe Kardashian was on Twitter this week promoting the latest Flat Tummy product, saying:
"Ok… I’ve posted with @flattummyco’s Shakes in the past and YES, I also use a personal trainer and nutritionist, but THESE SHAKES WORK to help get your tummy back to flat. Trust me you guys… Go get 25% off the same Shakes I drink."
Jamil wasn't having it, retweeting the original tweet with the comment "Blah blah blah eating disorder culture blah blah." She also posted the tweet on her instagram with the caption "IS SHE POOR?"
Jameela's Previous Plea
Jamil has addressed Khloe Kardashian directly in the past, commenting on another of her previous sponsored posts.
"If you’re too irresponsible to: a) own up to the fact that you have a personal trainer, nutritionist, probable chef, and a surgeon to achieve your aesthetic, rather than this laxative product… And b) tell them the side effects of this NON-FDA approved product, that most doctors are saying aren’t healthy. Side effects such as: Possible Flat Tummy Tea side effects are cramping, stomach pains, diarrhea and dehydration… Then I guess I have to. It’s incredibly awful that this industry bullied you until you became this fixated on your appearance. That’s the media’s fault. But now please don’t put that back into the world, and hurt other girls, the way you have been hurt. You’re a smart woman. Be smarter than this."
Something tells me this feud isn't ending any time soon.
