James Corden kidnaps The Jonas Brothers to force a reunion in Late Late Show sketch
This is the story of how James Corden reunited The Jonas Brothers — by any means necessary.
It was a dark night when the host of The Late Late Show despaired over all the depressing news on television: President Donald Trump’s former lawyer Michael Cohen testifying against him, rising sea levels, garbage pileups, Trump just existing in the White House, Brexit, and others. So he had a thought.
“Ever since The Jonas Brothers split up, everything’s gone wrong,” Corden tells Reggie Watts. “We’ve gotta get them back together. It’s the only way to fix all of this.”
Thus began an international mission to kidnap Nick Jonas, Kevin Jonas, and the other “guy” and force them back together. All it took were a few masks to throw over their heads, some rope, and an inspirational speech. Surprisingly, the services of Dr. Phil, who made a surprise cameo, were not necessary.
Now, here’s the real story of how the band got back together.
“About a year and a half ago, we started filming a documentary… the documentary tracks our childhood into our time with the band,” Nick tells Corden later on the Late Late Show couch. “It was gonna be a story of where we are today: separate lives, separate things, Joe with DNCE, and me with my solo stuff.”
The doc was announced after the release of “Sucker,” the band’s first single in six years. In collaboration with Amazon Studios, the film is described as “a very personal, behind the scenes look at the Jonas Brothers as they reunite for this exciting tour.”
“During that time,” Nick continues, “we started to realize there was magic we felt like we were missing. So the process was basically just, why don’t we give this a shot? We started playing a little music together and realized right away this is where we’re meant to be in our lives at this moment.”
The brothers have a weeklong stint on The Late Late Show, so expect lots more inside stories on their reunion to come out.
