James Gunn Reveals Official DCU Superman Logo, Movie Opens 1 Year From Today
James Gunn has unveiled the official DCU Superman logo.
Gunn’s Superman movie releases in United States theaters on July 11, 2025, which is exactly one year from today. The film, which is currently in production, stars David Corenswet as the titular Man of Steel.
What did James Gunn say about the Superman logo?
On Threads, Gunn posted an image of the official DCU Superman logo. “In exactly one year superman opens all over the world,” Gunn’s caption reads.

Along with Corenswet, Superman stars Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe.
Will Reeve, the son of former Superman actor Christopher Reeve, also has a role in the film, while Frank Grillo was spotted on set wearing his Rick Flag Sr. costume. Grillo will first play the character in animated form in Creature Commandos, which premieres this coming December.
Superman will be the first official film entry in Gunn and Peter Safran’s forthcoming DCU, which kicks off with Creature Commandos. The movie will be part of the DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
Other DCU movies that are currently in the works include Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow (directed by Craig Gillespie and starring Milly Alcock), The Authority, The Brave and the Bold (directed by Andy Muschietti), Swamp Thing (directed by James Mangold), and a Teen Titans movie (written by Ana Nogueira).
